What If You’re Traveling or Move to a Different State

Learn what to do if you’re outside your provider’s licensed state — including options to see another provider or reschedule.

Updated over a month ago

When you schedule your first appointment with Visana, we’ll match you with a provider licensed to practice in your state.

For each follow-up appointment booked through the MyVisana patient portal, you’ll be asked to confirm that you’ll be physically located in that same state at the time of your visit.

If you’re traveling or have moved to a new state, your current provider may not be licensed to treat you there. Providers can only see patients who are physically in states where they hold an active license.

In these cases, you have two options:

  • See another Visana provider licensed in the state you’ll be in (you can view their schedules right in the portal).

  • Reschedule your visit with your regular provider for a time when you’ll be back in your original state.

If you’ve permanently moved, just let us know! Our team can help connect you with a Visana provider licensed in your new state so your care continues seamlessly.
