How do I change my pharmacy?

Learn how to update your preferred pharmacy in your MyVisana profile or change it for specific prescriptions via text link.

When we send a prescription to your pharmacy, you’ll receive a text message that gives you the option to change your pharmacy for that medication before it’s filled. That text message comes from (513) 866-3212 (which is Photon, our prescription coordination service), if you need to find it again. Tap on the link in the text message to switch pharmacies in seconds.

If the pharmacy has already filled the medication, you’ll need to text Photon at (513) 866-3212 to get it transferred.

If your pharmacy is out of stock, experiencing delays, or you’d prefer to pick up your medication at a different location, tap on the link in the text message Photon, our prescription coordination service, originally sent you from (513) 866-3212 to switch pharmacies to get your medication sooner. Alternatively, you can call the pharmacy directly to get it transferred.

If you want to switch from a retail pharmacy to a mail order pharmacy for a prescription that’s already been sent to the retail pharmacy, let our Care Team know and we’ll help you.

For future medications you can update your default pharmacy to a retail or a mail order pharmacy anytime in your MyVisana Patient Portal:

  1. Click “Patient Profile” on the left-hand menu.

  2. Select “Preferred Pharmacy.”

  3. Choose your new default pharmacy — whether it’s a mail-order option for chronic medications or a local pharmacy that’s most convenient for you.
